The Serbian police on Monday arrested four doctors of the General Hospital in Uzice, western Serbia, on suspicion that they solicited and received bribes. Three others were detained in the same operation: directors of two companies from Belgrade and Kragujevac, who were selling orthopedic medical material, and a driver. The police (MUP) said that the doctors were suspected of directing their patients to purchase orthopedic items from the two companies, while in exchange taking bribes of over EUR 10,000 from the directors.
