The police are working on gathering evidence which would corroborate or dispel the suspicion of a planned assassination of top state officials, says a daily. "The police are also investigating a text message received Friday by a high-level official of the Interior Ministry, which warns of a new assassination attempt against senior state officials," Belgrade-based Blic newspaper writes, noting that "it has been determined the message was sent by a Vuk Jovanovic from the United States." The daily reported Monday that the Ministry of Internal Affairs received a tip that an assassination was being planned against Serbian President Boris Tadic, Serbian Orthodox Church Patriarch Irinej, Interior Minister Ivica Dacic and Director of Police Milorad Veljovic. The president's office declined to comment on the claims relating to the head of state's security, telling Tanjug it is a matter for the competent services.
