A memorial service would be held in the Saint Mark's Church in Belgrade for the victims of the Medak Pocket massacre. Serb civilians, policemen and soldiers of the former Republic of Serb Krajina (RSK) were killed by Croatian armed forces in the area of Medak Pocket, Croatia, 17 years ago. Medak Pocket massacre commemorated Out of the 88 victims of Croatia's aggression in Medak Pocket, four persons are still recorded as missing, and eight are unidentified, the Belgrade-based Center for Collecting Documents and Information Veritas stated. Veritas added that 46 soldiers, six policemen and 36 civilians were victims of the Croatian operation. Moreover, 26 persons were older than 60 including 17 women. Croatia's army attacked the Serb villages in the area of Medak Pocket, which were under protection of the UN, on September 9, 1993. The villages were pillaged and burned to the ground and upon finishing the action, the Croatian army handed over 52 dead bodies to the Serbs. UNPROFOR official managed to find 18 corpses initially, the majority of which were massacred or burned to death, while 11 more bodies were found in 2000, the statement adds.
