Dačić: Group of con artists arrested

Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said that four members of a group of experienced con artists have been arrested. “Leading that group was Todor Puletic, who presented himself falsely as a senior official of the Serbian government, a deputy interior minister, and as an advisor and senior official of the president’s cabinet, who pulled off fraud jobs in between January 2004 and October 2009,” Dacic said. Dacic said that the police had cooperation by the Special Prosecution for the Fight Against Organized Crime in making the arrest, adding that the police action would continue. The Interior Minister said that this is the first time that the police are dealing with an organized crime group that specializes in fraud. Dacic called on citizens that have been in contact with this form of organized crime to give their reports to the Interior Ministry and other state institutions. “The state policy in this case is completely clear—to lead an uncompromising fight against crime and corruption—no one can speak in someone else’s name or commit crimes on another’s behalf,” Dacic said.
