The Kragujevac District Court postponed its anticipated verdict today in the case of Luka Karadzic. Karadzic, the brother of Hague accused Radovan, is on trial for causing a road accident that led to the death of one Branisalava Rebic from Arandjelovac. Verdict deferred in case against Karadzic's brother She died from injuries sustained in Kragujevac hospital four days after the accident that took place on July 14, 2005, on the Kragujevac-Topola road. The trial chamber acquiesced to a prosecution motion to recall to the witness stand the police officers that came to the scene. The trial will continue on October 21. The victim’s family today appended a forensic report from the Faculty of Traffic Science in Zagreb as a response to earlier findings by the Traffic Faculty in Belgrade and the Faculty of Technical Science in Novi Sad. Miodrag J. Aleksic, the Rebic family’s lawyer, claimed that experts in the initial trial were saying one thing and adapting their findings during testing to fit in with the defense’s version of events. Karadziic, meanwhile, did not wish to comment on today’s developments. The defense claims that the court could not find the defendant guilty on the basis of the expert reports, and that the reports filed by the Rebic family had not been submitted in line with the law. The proposal from the public prosecutor to recall the policemen and crime scene technicians that were present at the inquest was accepted, while a decision on a second proposal for a report to be carried out by an international independent institution has been deferred until the next hearing.
