Serbia recorded a USD 60mn surplus in sweets and confectionery trade over the first 9 months of this year - up 27 percent compared to the same period in 2010. The Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) said that the country - who's economy suffers a continuous trade deficit - earned a total of USD 141.3mn from this type of trade from January to September, more by two percent year-on-year. Serbia's food industry reports sweet surplus The exports grew by 8.4 percent, amounting to USD 100.6mn, while the imports fell by 10.7 percent, to about USD 40mn. A total of 93,100 tons of confectionery was produced in Serbia over the observed period, less by eight percent or by about 8,000 tons than the production volume in 2010. Chocolate and cocoa-based products saw a production drop of 11.2 percent, the biggest among sweet foods.

A total of 93,100 tons of confectionery was produced in Serbia over the observed period, less by eight percent or by about 8,000 tons than the production volume in 2010.

Chocolate and cocoa-based products saw a production drop of 11.2 percent, the biggest among sweet foods.
