Finance Ministry to follow EC recommendation

The Serbian Ministry of Finance will follow the recommendation of the European Commission (EC), it has been announced. This means it will harmonize the excise taxes on oil derivatives with the international agreements signed by Serbia. Finance Ministry to follow EC recommendation The ministry pointed out that the issue will be resolved in the coming days, but did not specify how the excise taxes will be adjusted. This will be known in several days after we analyze the EC opinion in more detail and determine what can be done, a ministry official said. The Finance Ministry received a letter from the EC on Monday, advising it that Serbia violated two articles of the interim trade agreement with the EU. Under the new Excise Tax Law, which came into effect at the start of the year, the excise tax on petrol fuels went up RSD 0.3 per liter (from RSD 44.7 to 45), while the tax on diesel fuels rose by RSD 4.53 per liter (from RSD 30.47 to 35). The excise on Euro Premium BMB 95 went up RSD 4.8 and totals RSD 49.5 per liter, while the excise on Euro Diesel rose by RSD 6.53 to RSD 37 per liter. The excise on liquefied petroleum gas went up RSD 2.71 per kilogram (from RSD 15.24 to 17.95), while the excise on other oil derivatives is RSD 53.34 per kilogram.
