The Evzoni border crossing was closed due to a fire in Greece, it was confirmed by the Macedonian Automobile Association.

"The Bogorodica/Evzoni border crossing is closed to traffic from the Greek side due to the fire," they stated.

At the border crossing, traffic has been suspended since 12 o'clock. As the Macedonian Automobile Association told Telegraf.rs, all vehicles are diverted to the Dojran border crossing.


According to the Greek portal Kathimerini, the fire broke out shortly after 12 o'clock on the grassy area.

There are 22 firefighters and 10 vehicles working to extinguish the fire.

It is not yet known how the fire started, but it is assumed that it was a forest fire, considering the great heat that has hit Greece these days.
