Danish troops arrive in Greenland VIDEO

The statement said that the first group of conscripts from the Schleswig Infantry Regiment arrived in Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, in early August. From there, they were deployed to several locations toward Kangerlussuaq, in the southwest of the country, where they are carrying out operational duties as part of Operation Arctic Endurance, Arctic Today reported.

The Danish conscripts deployed to Greenland are among the first to serve the newly extended 11-month military service, and, for the first time, they have been assigned operational duties during the exercise.

The Danish Ministry of Defence also said that Copenhagen will continue and expand its military presence and activities in the Arctic and North Atlantic through the end of the year, together with several NATO allies. Aircraft, ships and troops will also be present in and around Greenland in increased numbers in the coming period. 
