Kyiv makes urgent appeal to 40 countries for assistance

According to a post by Ukraine’s Defense Ministry on Telegram, Fedorov also asked partner countries to contribute to the PURL and JUMPSTART mechanisms, which are intended to speed up the delivery of Patriot missiles, Ukrinform reported.

“These are the fastest and most reliable ways to deliver the necessary missiles for Patriot systems. It is crucial that the relevant decisions are made ahead of the NATO summit,” the statement said.

The ministry stressed that the speed of response from partner states directly affects the protection of Ukraine’s airspace, critical infrastructure, and civilian lives.

It also noted that intercepting ballistic missiles remains one of the biggest challenges due to a shortage of Patriot missiles.

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry recalled that in April, with Germany’s support, it signed a record contract for the procurement of several hundred PAC-2 missiles for Patriot systems for the first time, with deliveries expected over the coming years.

It also said that a procedure has been launched for the procurement of around 100 additional Patriot missiles worth $1 billion, to be financed through a European Union loan.
