Baghaei: “Our response will be far broader than anything they have seen so far”

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said today that Iran is ready to respond to any attack, including a possible U.S. ground offensive.

“Our response will be far broader than anything they have seen so far. We are not seeking war, but if it is imposed on us, we will defend our country,” Baghaei said in an interview with U.S. journalist Mehdi Hasan, as reported by Tasnim.

Baghaei recalled previous U.S. attacks on Iran, noting that they occurred during past negotiations, and that in the past nine months Iran had been attacked twice while diplomatic talks were ongoing.

He stressed that such attacks must not become the norm and that Iranian soldiers and the public are determined in their response.

During the interview, Baghaei rejected claims that Iran is attempting to develop nuclear weapons, reiterating that Iran’s nuclear program is exclusively peaceful.
