Maria Zakharova: “Kallas is in vain hoping to mediate in negotiations”

The spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, dismissed the possibility that the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, could be involved in negotiations on the Ukraine conflict as an EU representative.

“It is in vain,” Zakharova said briefly, responding to statements by Kaja Kallas in which she spoke about her experience in negotiations and rejected the idea that former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder could act as a mediator in dialogue between Russia and Ukraine, according to RBK Russia.

Kallas had previously stated that it would be ‘unacceptable’ for Moscow to decide who would represent the European Union in any potential negotiations, adding that this would mean Schröder would be ‘sitting on both sides of the table.'

She emphasized that the European Union should not accept a model in which Russia has influence over the selection of a European negotiator, warning of “traps” that, as she stated, Moscow sets in the diplomatic process.

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, had previously proposed former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder as a possible mediator in dialogue with Europe on the Ukraine conflict, stating that Moscow is ready for talks.

“As stated by NABU and SAP, the investigation concerns an organized group suspected of laundering money through construction projects.

Andriy Yermak is charged under a provision of the Ukrainian Criminal Code relating to large-scale money laundering and the legalization of property obtained through criminal activity.”

“For these criminal offenses, a prison sentence of 8 to 12 years is prescribed, along with confiscation of property, according to Ukrinform.

The case is part of the broader ‘Midas’ operation, launched in late 2025 over suspicions of corruption in the energy sector and influence over state-owned enterprises, including Energoatom.

As part of the investigation, certain businessmen and former officials linked to the energy sector were previously also named as suspects, while some of the accused have left Ukraine and international arrest warrants have been issued for them.

Zelensky: “20 countries are cooperating with us on drone production”

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said that 20 countries are currently cooperating with Ukraine on the production of drones.

“Because of this Russian aggression, the scale of killing has increased, and the threats have become more dangerous, especially when it comes to drones. Many partners understand this: already 20 countries are working with Ukraine at different levels so that we can have drone agreements with them. With some states, political agreements have already been reached, followed by contracts with manufacturers, and our military experience is already producing results. With other countries, we will soon sign political agreements,” he said.

Volodymyr Zelensky: “There is no ceasefire on the front line, we are preparing for new attacks”

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said that fighting continues on the front line and that Ukraine is preparing for new Russian attacks.

“Today, the front was far from calm – fighting took place. We have documented all of it. We can also see that Russia has no intention of ending this war and, unfortunately, we are preparing for new attacks. But there must be peace. That is exactly what we are working for. The defense of Ukraine, Ukraine’s independence, and the safety of our people are what matter most,” he said in his evening address.
