The conflict in the Middle East continues despite the ceasefire. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are bombing parts of Lebanon, especially Beirut, while Iran says that Lebanon was included in the peace agreement — a point denied by both Netanyahu and Trump.

At least 303 people were killed on Wednesday in Israeli attacks across Lebanon

At least 303 people were killed on Wednesday in Israeli attacks across Lebanon, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported today.

The statement notes that the death toll is not final and is expected to rise as rescue teams are still pulling bodies from the rubble, Reuters reported.

The total number of casualties from Israeli attacks on Lebanon since March 2 has risen to 1,888, with more than 6,000 people injured.

Ukraine and Gulf countries form a powerful defense pact

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today the signing of new agreements on defense cooperation between Ukraine and the Gulf countries.

"New draft agreements have already been prepared. I have scheduled a meeting on Monday regarding the second wave of such agreements. Ukraine contributes to security, and in return, the partners will contribute to the security and strengthening of Ukraine," Zelensky said, Ukrinform reported.

The Ukrainian president noted that if the situation in the Middle East stabilizes, it would lead to a drop in oil prices.

"Everyone has seen how difficult it is to stabilize the situation in the Middle East. That is the truth. There will still be many political and diplomatic activities regarding Iran, but we hope there will be fewer military actions. This is important for everyone in the world because of the destabilization of markets. Now oil prices are falling. It is important that this is not disrupted. The world wants stability. People want security," Zelensky emphasized.

The Presidents of Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) agreed on March 28 on cooperation in the field of security and defense. Zelensky and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, along with Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, agreed on March 28 in Doha on cooperation between the two countries in the defense sector for a period of at least 10 years.

A similar agreement between Ukraine and Saudi Arabia was signed on March 27.

Trump requested a reduction of attacks on Lebanon

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, asked in a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reduce the intensity of Israel’s attacks on Lebanon to ensure the success of negotiations with Iran, a senior U.S. administration official told NBC News.

The unnamed official noted that, although both the Washington administration and Israel stated that Lebanon was not covered by the ceasefire agreement, Israel agreed "to be a constructive partner."

He added that the phone call came after Netanyahu publicly promised yesterday to continue heavy attacks on Lebanon.
