Trump's ultimatum: "Open the Strait of Hormuz or face destruction"

The Israeli attack on the Iranian South Pars gas field was fully coordinated with the U.S. and was intended to send a message from American leader Donald Trump that he is losing patience with Iran, as the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, reports Channel 12.

According to a source from Israeli television, Israel has threatened further strikes on Iranian energy facilities.

"Israel provided operational assistance to send an American message. Either the Strait of Hormuz will be opened and the Iranians will remove naval mines, or the entire facility will be destroyed, along with other energy installations," an unnamed senior Israeli official told the network.

The attack occurred earlier today, damaging several facilities in the South Pars Special Economic Energy Zone, Iranian agency Tasnim reported.

An Israeli official confirmed earlier today that the Israeli Air Force struck Iran’s gas infrastructure in the south of the country, targeting the largest Iranian gas processing facility in Bushehr province.

The South Pars field is the world’s largest known gas reserve and provides about 70 percent of Iran’s domestic natural gas. Iran, which shares this massive natural gas field with Qatar, has been developing infrastructure on its side of the field since the late 1990s.
