"Specifically, regarding President Zelensky’s comments, we as the European Commission are very clear that such rhetoric is not acceptable," said Commission spokesperson Olof Gil.

He added that the Commission’s goal is "to calm things down a bit and reduce tensions" and that Brussels is holding "active discussions with all parties" to resolve the crisis, reports Euractiv. Earlier, the Ukrainian president threatened Prime Minister Orbán over the EU loan dispute, which Hungary has blocked.

"We hope that one person in the EU will not block €90 billion and that Ukrainian soldiers will receive weapons. Otherwise, we will give the address of that person to our guys so they can speak in their own language," Zelensky said on Thursday.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that he is not personally concerned about the death threats allegedly made against him by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, emphasizing that he will not allow his country to be endangered. Orbán stressed that the dispute over the Druzhba oil pipeline is not a personal matter for him, but rather concerns Hungary’s energy supply.

He warned that he will use all political means to break through the Ukrainian oil blockade. Hungary is blocking the EU loan of €90 billion to Ukraine for the next two years.

Without this loan, Ukraine could find itself without the funds it needs to operate the state as soon as next month. Budapest accuses Ukraine of deliberately obstructing the repair of the Druzhba pipeline, which has been out of service since January 27.
