The video footage reportedly reveals harrowing scenes showing bodies packed in black bags, as well as dozens upon dozens of Iranians screaming and crying, trying to identify the victims.

All of this took place in warehouse-like rooms, as well as on the ground in front of the forensic center, where the bodies of victims from the latest wave of Iran’s harsh repression of dissent were laid out.

CNN reminds that the nationwide anti-government protests, triggered by worsening economic conditions, have posed the greatest challenge to the Iranian regime in recent years.

The video obtained by CNN shows a crowd gathered in front of a monitor displaying photos of deceased individuals, while their loved ones gather around, trying to identify them.

According to information on the screen and the images, it is estimated that there are around 250 bodies in the facility.

Another clip from the forensic center shows black body bags lined up on the walkway in front of the building, with people gathered around them.

Some bodies are scattered across what appears to be the yard of the facility. Others lie on unpaved ground. Some are only a few meters away from parked cars, while families frantically search for the remains of their loved ones.

The activist group Mamlekate stated on Saturday that the number of bodies brought to the forensic institute is so high that there is no longer enough space to line them all up in the yard.

Another video, recorded on Friday, shows the interior of a warehouse near the forensic center.

The room, converted into an improvised morgue, is also full of bodies in black bags, arranged in rows on the floor and on metal tables.

Iranian state media have acknowledged that the footage from the morgue is authentic, but insist that the deceased are “ordinary” people who were drawn into the protests.

State media have blamed “rioters” for their deaths.
