Putin and Xi exchanged New Year's greetings; "Mr. President…"

Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that he intends to cooperate with Russian President Vladimir Putin to achieve new successes in the development of bilateral relations in the coming year, according to China Central Television.

In his New Year’s message, Xi highlighted that 2026 will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership and the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship, and Cooperation between China and the Russian Federation.

“I am ready to work with you, Mr. President, to achieve new accomplishments in the continuous development of China-Russia relations in the new era,” Xi said.

He also noted that China and Russia plan to hold a series of events to celebrate their Years of Education in 2026–2027. Xi emphasized that Beijing and Moscow support each other in multilateral forums such as the UN, contributing to reform and improvement of the global governance system.
