Zelensky hints – an important decision lies ahead of him
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that mobilization could be lifted or conducted only partially if a peace agreement is signed between Ukraine, the United States, Russia, and Europe.
Speaking during a meeting with journalists, Zelensky emphasized that mobilization can be adjusted to new circumstances if the peace agreement is not only signed but also begins to be implemented in practice.
“Mobilization can be transformed, it can be fully suspended or conducted partially, with gradual demobilization,” Zelensky said.
According to him, the key priority remains maintaining the combat capability of the army and existing positions.
“Losing the army, even for a short time, would be extremely dangerous,” the president warned.
Zelensky also explained that even after signing a peace agreement, martial law will not be immediately lifted and will continue for several months, making it impossible to quickly organize parliamentary and local elections.
He recalled that on December 24, he publicly presented for the first time a draft 20-point framework document on ending the war. According to this document, a full ceasefire would take effect immediately after the agreement of all parties.
In addition to the peace agreement, he noted, additional documents have been prepared, including a multilateral framework of security guarantees for Ukraine, bilateral guarantees from the U.S., as well as a document on reconstruction and economic development titled “Ukraine’s Roadmap to Prosperity.”
