Middle East on fire; Iran fires a volley of missiles PHOTO
The Navy of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fired ballistic and cruise missiles at simulated targets in the Persian Gulf during two days of military drills aimed at deterring foreign threats.
Earlier, Iran held counterterrorism drills in the northwestern province of East Azerbaijan with members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), which, according to Press TV, were intended to signal “peace and friendship” to neighboring countries, while also warning enemies that “any miscalculation will be met with a decisive response.”
The land and naval drills followed a 12-day war between Israel and Iran in June, during which the United States joined Israel in attacking Iranian nuclear facilities.
State-run Iranian media reported the mass launch of Kad 110, Kad 380, and Kad 360 cruise missiles, as well as 303 ballistic missiles, at targets in the Gulf of Oman. Drones simultaneously simulated strikes on enemy bases, according to the report.
The IRGC Navy began the exercise in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman on Thursday. They emphasized what they described as increased AI readiness and the “unbreakable spirit and resistance” of their sailors in facing any threat.
