A sharp response arrives from Moscow: Ukraine never wanted peace
"Ukrainian authorities have no desire for peace," Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told Izvestia, commenting on Kyiv's decision to suspend peace talks aimed at resolving the Ukrainian conflict.
“That is an admission that the regime of Volodymyr Zelensky never intended to show any genuine desire for peace,” Zakharova emphasized.
Earlier, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsya announced that Ukraine has officially suspended peace talks with Russia.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov previously stated that the Russian side remains ready to continue the negotiation process aimed at resolving the Ukrainian conflict.
According to him, it is impossible to conduct negotiations unilaterally when Ukrainian authorities refuse to engage in contact.
He also noted that there can be no talk of mutual trust between Moscow and Kyiv. Direct negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv resumed in May 2025, and so far three rounds have taken place – on May 16, June 2, and July 23.
