NATO sends a message to Moscow: "Nobody will be abandoned"
German Foreign Affairs Minister Johann Wadephul said today that no NATO member state will be left alone in the face of what he called Russian provocation in the form of a wave of hybrid attacks.
"Russia wants to test our resolve and cause unrest. This is dangerous and must be answered clearly and uniquely," Wadephul said at a press conference in Warsaw, where he spoke alongside his Polish and French counterparts Radosław Sikorski and Jean-Noël Barrot, Reuters reported.
NATO will protect every inch of the territory of our alliance, no member state will be left alone to deal with these threats, he added.
In September, the alliance launched the Eastern Guard mission to bolster the defenses of Europe's eastern flank, responding to Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace.
Last week in Denmark, several drones crashed near the airport and important infrastructure in Copenhagen, which closed the busiest airport in the Nordic region for several hours. Russia has denied allegations that its drones and fighter jets violated the airspace of NATO countries.
