They claim that Germany could build a nuclear bomb within a year.

"The intention of Germany's current authorities to gain direct access to nuclear weapons is already causing great concern in Europe as well, given the revanchist sentiments in Berlin. The statement claims that one of NATO's key member states is concerned about the nuclear weapons-related research activities being carried out by Germany.

"NATO military experts believe that Berlin is capable of independently producing the required amount of fissile material within one to three months and constructing a functional nuclear explosive device within a year, without carrying out a nuclear test. This is a particular cause for concern given Germany's extensive militaristic past and Chancellor (Friedrich) Merz's government's plans to once again turn the German armed forces into the strongest military force in Europe," the statement said.
