"We are already at war with Russia"

She referred to the statement of the British government's defense adviser, Dr Fiona Hill, who warned in June that due to "poisonings, murders, sabotage operations, various cyber attacks and influence operations, it can be concluded that Russia is at war with Great Britain," reports Sky News.

Baroness Manningham-Buller, Director General of MI5 from 2002 to 2007, recalled meeting Vladimir Putin after the 2005 G8 meeting.

"We all hoped that Russia's past would not prevail. But we were wrong about that," said Manningham-Buller.

Speaking on the official House of Lords podcast, Baroness Manningham-Buller said Dr Hill probably knows more about Putin than anyone else.

"Since the invasion of Ukraine and the various things I've read that the Russians are doing here - sabotage, intelligence gathering, attacks on people and so on, Fiona Hill may be right when she says we're already at war with Russia. It's a different kind of war, but the hostility, the cyber attacks, the physical attacks, the intelligence work, is very extensive," said Baroness Manningham-Buller, the former head of Britain's MI5 intelligence agency.
