German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said today that he does not rule out the delivery of "Taurus" cruise missiles to Ukraine, as Kyiv requested.

"It is and remains an option," Merz said in an interview with the German television network ARD.

However, he added, the Taurus system is "extremely complicated", and training for it takes at least six months, the Zeit newspaper reports.

He added that no activities have yet been started regarding the training of Ukrainian soldiers.

"One thing is certain. Germany will not become a party to the war," emphasized the German chancellor.

Although Germany is one of the main countries that militarily support Ukraine, Berlin has never delivered Taurus missiles, which have a range of more than 480 km.
