The beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations in Istanbul on the cease-fire in Ukraine is scheduled for today around 9:00 a.m., and talks will take place in the Dolmabahçe Palace, TASS reported, citing a source familiar with organization of the meeting.
The meeting will be held behind closed doors, without the presence of the media.
The plane with members of the Russian delegation landed at Ataturk airport in Istanbul, where negotiations with the Ukrainian delegation are planned, the Russian aviation service confirmed to Interfax this morning.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced last night that the Russian delegation to the negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul will be led by his assistant Vladimir Medinsky.
Medinsky also led the Russian delegation to the 2022 talks with Kyiv in Istanbul.
During the negotiations, the Russian side will be represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Galuzin, Chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Igor Kostyukov and Deputy Minister of Defense Alexander Fomin.
Earlier, the Russian media, citing sources, reported that the Ukrainian delegation will consist of the country's president Volodymyr Zelensky, his chief of staff Andriy Yermak, deputy head of the cabinet Igor Zhovkva, defense minister Rustem Umerov and Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha.
Ukrinform reports that Zelensky will visit Turkey today, where he will discuss peace initiatives and possible ways to end the war, and that, starting this morning, his bilateral talks in Ankara with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and a joint media conference summarizing the results of the visit are scheduled.
