Granted: A major offensive starts
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security cabinet approved the gradual expansion of the offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Israeli public broadcaster Kan 11 reported today.
That plan is not expected to be implemented until after US President Donald Trump's visit to the Middle East next week, and until then efforts will reportedly be made to reach an agreement with Hamas on a ceasefire and a hostage deal, The Times of Israel reports.
Over the weekend, the Israeli army issued calls for the mobilization of thousands of reservists to expand attacks on the Gaza Strip.
The reservists are supposed to be deployed to Israel's border with Lebanon and the occupied West Bank, to replace the regular soldiers who will lead the new offensive on Gaza.
