Massive attack launched: Missiles fired

Five of the ten rockets fired were intercepted by Israeli air defense systems, but at least one of the remaining five rockets hit Ashkelon and caused damage, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officials confirmed, The Times of Israel reports.

It is reported that a 30-year-old man was slightly injured by shrapnel and was taken to Barzilai Medical Center for treatment.

Magen David Adom emergency first-aid providers said two more people were injured, and several people were admitted for "acute anxiety following the attack."

Hamas rockets were fired at the coastal cities of Ashkelon and Ashdod shortly after 9 p.m. from central Gaza, from the Deir al-Balah area, where the IDF was not conducting operations. Hamas immediately claimed responsibility for this rocket attack, according to the Israeli daily.
