Secret Russian nuclear base in Europe discovered: "I brought warheads, they didn't even notice"
Russia has a secret nuclear weapons base in Belarus, Radio Free Europe reveals, and the proof is an innocuous photo taken at the 1405th ammunition base located in central Belarus, which was published on the Internet in September last year.

It depicts a monitor showing the level of radiation measured at the base, despite the fact that it is more than a hundred kilometers from the nearest nuclear power plant, reports Dnevnik.hr.
Radio Free Europe reporters also discovered evidence of heightened nuclear security measures near the 1405th base.
The documents reveal the location where chemicals for iodine prophylaxis - a safeguard in the event of an accident at a nuclear power plant - are stored. This was mentioned in an annex to the documents on a new railway line connecting the base to another facility, the nearby Asipovichy military base, which is also believed to be a potential storage site for Russian nuclear warheads.
Satellite images also show that last year the construction of a railway line that will connect the ammunition depot with the nearby Asipovichy military base began.
Documentation related to the project was provided to reporters by Belpol, a group of former Belarusian security officials now working against the regime. It includes details related to the project, including the construction of guard rooms, the construction and renovation of barracks, weapons depots and possible new hangars for the Russian Iskander missiles, which can carry conventional or nuclear warheads.
Lukashenko announced the delivery of two Iskander units in February 2024.
With a range of 500 kilometers, missiles fired from Asipovichy could hit most of Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine.
In December 2024, Lukashenko said that they had arrived in Belarus:
"I brought nuclear warheads here. Not just a dozen... They didn't even notice we brought them here."
A growing body of evidence, writes Radio Free Europe, points to the likelihood that Asipovichy and the 1405th ammunition warehouse are the place where these weapons, if they were indeed brought to Belarus, are stored or that the place is being prepared for its arrival.
