The G7 Summit begins
Group of Seven (G7) foreign ministers will meet in Canada today after seven weeks of rising tensions between US allies and President Donald Trump over his foreign policy changes.

Ministers from Great Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States of America, together with representatives of the EU, will meet for two days in the tourist town of La Malbaie, in Quebec.
One of the main items on the agenda will be a report on talks that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had with Kyiv in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, where Ukraine said it was ready to support a 30-day ceasefire deal.
Rubio said yesterday that the G7 should recognize that the United States has moved the process toward ending the war.
G7 diplomats say that a positive outcome of the talks in Jeddah could at least make negotiations on Ukraine easier.
Reuters reports that relations between the US and Canada are at an all-time low due to Trump's threats to impose tariffs on all imports from Canada and his constant thoughts about annexing Canada and making it the 51st US state.
Trump suggested the G7 could be revived with Moscow's return, 11 years after its membership in the group was suspended over the annexation of Crimea.
European diplomats have expressed hope to use the G7 to directly assess how much influence Rubio has on US foreign policy.
