Serbia turns white as snow falls incessantly VIDEO
Snow began falling again on Mount Golija during the morning hours, and the snow cover has already reached around 10 centimetres. Road maintenance crews are already on the ground, working to clear the roads.
"Snow is still falling, and one truck is currently on the ground clearing the roads. Although the winter road maintenance service is currently at its lowest, so-called zero alert level, an additional daytime crew has also been deployed, consisting of one truck," Vitomir Arsović of Putevi Ivanjica told RINA.
He pointed out that problems frequently occur at critical points on Mount Golija, but that no vehicles have become stranded so far.
While rain is currently falling in Ivanjica, conditions on the mountain are different, and road conditions can change rapidly.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution and ensure their vehicles are properly equipped with winter gear before travelling to Golija, Arsović said.
Light snowfall on Kopaonik
Snow is falling on Kopaonik this morning, with temperatures dropping to minus two degrees Celsius. According to data from the Republic Hydrometeorological Service of Serbia (RHMSS), the perceived temperature on the mountain is minus nine degrees Celsius.
Temperatures slightly above zero have been recorded in other mountainous areas of Serbia.
Fog has been reported on Crni Vrh, where the temperature was measured at two degrees Celsius at 10:00 a.m.
Temperatures of three degrees Celsius have been recorded in Zlatibor and Sjenica, accompanied by cloudy skies and light rain.
Cloudy and cold weather is expected across Serbia today, with occasional rainfall and snow on higher mountain peaks. Heavier precipitation is expected in the central, southwestern and southeastern parts of the country.
