Stojisavljević: Traffic is normal on all roads, but slowed

Zoran Stojisavljević, Executive Director of the Sector for Maintenance of First- and Second-Category Roads at Putevi Srbije, said today that traffic on all roads in Serbia is proceeding normally, but at a reduced speed, which he noted is typical for winter conditions. He added that the biggest problem is caused by drivers who do not respect speed limits recommended for conditions of snow and ice on the roadway.

Stojisavljević told Tanjug that road maintenance crews and machinery are fully engaged in the field.

“All roads are passable and traffic is proceeding according to regular conditions. There are no critical situations anywhere, but there is more snow from Kruševac toward Belgrade, from Despotovac toward Belgrade, in Vojvodina, Srem, western Serbia, Valjevo, and on Divčibare,” Stojisavljević said.

He noted that temperatures are extremely low, causing the falling snow to remain on the ground, and that the situation has been further complicated by freezing rain that fell two days ago, which formed an ice layer over which new snow has accumulated.

Latest Situation Update: Six States of Emergency; Traffic Difficult

A state of emergency has been declared in Osečina, Loznica, Vladimiri, Krupanj, parts of Prijepolje, and Mali Zvornik, while power supply problems are most pronounced in Kolubara, Mačva, and parts of the Zlatibor administrative district.

Traffic is difficult on most roads, with restrictions for heavy vehicles in Zaječar, Valjevo, Požega, Užice, Novi Pazar, Ivanjica, and Kruševac, and public transport is modified in some parts of Belgrade. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and use winter equipment until weather conditions stabilize.

Changes to Belgrade Public Transport Lines

A total of 1,445 passenger vehicles are operating on Belgrade streets, but due to snow falling since last night in the capital, several lines are running on modified routes or have been diverted, Tanjug was informed by the City Transport Company.

Today, the Saturday schedule is in effect, with 13 electric buses, 127 trams, and 1,305 buses operating on the streets.

Trolleybuses have been replaced by buses to improve road passability. Routes for lines 18 and 29, as well as lines that pass through Todora Dukina Street, have been changed.

  • Line 65 is operating on a shortened route to Omladinski Stadium.

  • Lines that normally go to Medaković now terminate at the Braće Jerković neighborhood.

  • Lines 17 and 31 run shortened routes to Dušanovac, while line 21 has been extended to Medaković 3.

Authorities are urging passengers to follow current updates and show understanding toward crews clearing the streets.
