The Republic Hydrometeorological Institute of Serbia has announced that in the lower areas of the Timok and Negotin regions, a snow cover of 5 to 15 centimeters is expected by Wednesday morning, with higher accumulations in the mountains and local icy conditions.

In other parts of Serbia during the same period, a light snow cover may form in some areas.

During this morning, evening, and the night into Wednesday, rain is expected locally in the Pomoravlje and Homolje regions, which will freeze on contact with the ground.

In the southern Banat region and the lower Danube area, the Košava wind will blow today with gusts of 70 to 100 km/h, and around 60 km/h in the Belgrade area.

Tomorrow and Thursday (February 11 and 12), the Košava will continue to blow at slightly reduced intensity (in southern Banat and the lower Danube area with gusts of 60 to 85 km/h, and around 40 km/h in Belgrade).

The Košava is forecast to subside on Friday (February 13).

Two weather alerts activated

RHMZ has issued two weather alerts for today: yellow and orange.

The yellow warning is in effect for Šumadija, Pomoravlje, and Southeastern Serbia, where there is a risk of snow accumulation on roads, icy patches, and strong wind gusts.

The orange weather alert applies to the regions of Banat, Pomoravlje, and Eastern Serbia. In these areas, the danger is higher, with risks from ice, the Košava wind, and freezing rain.
