Accident near Ovčar Banja is unbelievable: Dangerous road section; Vehicle examination will provide answers

Just to reiterate, the car involved in the accident contained Ana R. (20), whose disappearance had already been reported to the police and a search was underway, as well as a man, A.M. (37), who was driving.

According to Igor Jurić from the Center for Missing and Abused Children, speaking to Jutro on TV Prva, the circumstances under which the girl ended up in that car were unusual.

“I want to express my condolences to her father, Miloš, with whom I’ve been in contact since her disappearance was reported, as well as to the whole family. I spoke with her father a lot yesterday, and of course, they are deeply affected. It was a very specific set of circumstances that led to this girl being in the car. She was going to Belgrade to pay for some university exams, and by chance, this man was also going to Belgrade; some acquaintances connected them, and that’s how the girl got into the car. As far as I know, she did not know the driver personally,” said Jurić.

The concrete structure that the car collided with was actually a memorial. After the car was removed from the ditch, it was clear that it was completely crushed, which could indicate that it was moving at high speed.

However, as TV Prva sources note, it is necessary to wait for the official investigation results, as it would be irresponsible to speculate in the tragic situation that affected the families of the victims.

Vehicle examination will provide many answers

The timing of the accident was also unfortunate. It is notable that the car’s lights were likely not on due to the force of the impact, which made it even harder to see the vehicle.

“This is a very tragic case. It raises the question of how someone could end up in this location. This is a part of the road with a double solid line, and traffic is usually slowed due to the risk of accidents. The vehicle examination will be important here and will provide many answers, including whether the speed was appropriate,” said Dejan Radenković, former deputy head of the Criminal Police Administration.

“What is truly most important is that the autopsy results arrive and the cause of death is determined,” added Radenković.

According to media reports, Ana’s phone was still active 14 hours after her disappearance.

“The fact is that the parents reported her missing only the next day, and by then the phone was no longer accessible,” said Radenković.
