Vučić meets with bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi: Panel "Partnership and Cooperation in the Field of Energy"
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić met today with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in Abu Dhabi.
Ahead of the meeting, Vučić emphasized that the UAE is one of the most important investors in Serbia and stated that this meeting is of great significance for Serbia.
He announced that he would discuss NIS, bilateral cooperation, military-technical cooperation, and geopolitical issues with the Sheikh.
Vučić reminded that Serbia and the UAE have official military-technical cooperation, and that part of Serbia’s drones are purchased from the UAE.
"We will talk about how to technologically advance our cooperation. We also have official military-technical cooperation. Don’t forget that we purchase part of our drones from here. We will discuss technology transfer for various things, from laser missiles to everything else. This has been ongoing for years. Don’t forget that they are investors in our country—in agriculture, in the energy sector, in Belgrade Waterfront. These are all things that make Serbia fundamentally a large and important country," Vučić said.
He also noted that the President of the UAE is one of the world’s most important leaders, from whom he, as he said, has learned a lot about state governance.
"This is a conversation with one of the world’s most important leaders, a sincere friend of Serbia. Every time, I have learned a great deal from him about how he manages the country, as did his father. Unlike other people, I despise the answer: 'That’s our money,' because there are Arab countries that have five times more oil and better quality oil than the UAE, yet are twenty times poorer than the Emirates. In the end, everything depends on leadership; everything depends on the leader," Vučić said.
Vučić visited the UAE on an official visit in June last year, when he met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In September, the Sheikh visited Belgrade. After the meetings with the Sheikh, Vučić will participate today in the panel “Partnership and Cooperation in the Field of Energy” as part of Sustainability Week 2026.
During the first day of his visit to Abu Dhabi, Vučić attended the official opening of Sustainability Week, hosted by the President of the UAE. He also met with the UAE Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and highlighted that they discussed strengthening the Serbia-UAE partnership, particularly in energy and investments that can accelerate Serbia’s energy transition and infrastructure modernization.
