Vučić: "I will resign on September 27"; "I have faithfully served the people"
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said tonight that he will resign as President of the Republic of Serbia on September 27.
“Let me inform you that on September 27, I will resign as President. That evening, I will address the people and thank them for their support. I have been the longest-serving President of the Republic since the multi-party system was established in our country. I could not have done that without the citizens of this country. The only thing I can say is that I faithfully served Serbia, faithfully served the citizens of this country — faithfully, diligently, devotedly and with determination,” Vučić said during an appearance on TV Pink.
He added that he would then join the pre-election campaign as an ordinary citizen.
“I have also acquired a small truck, and I have my own car. I also got some kind of camper van, since I won’t be able to sleep everywhere. I will go to the most remote villages and stay there until late if necessary. There are still many villages — thousands and thousands of them that I have not visited. I want to visit urban areas as well; I want to go to every city, stand outside shops, outside nightclubs, and talk to people,” Vučić said.
He added that, as a private citizen, he would continue talking to everyone and that he had no problem with that.
