Vučić at the Brdo–Brioni Process Summit: "Serbia will always be a reliable and responsible partner of the EU"
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has arrived at the Brdo–Brioni Process Summit, which is being held in Durrës.
“Although we face numerous challenges ahead, Serbia remains committed to ensuring that EU enlargement stays one of the key priorities, not a secondary topic.
I expect the Brdo–Brioni Process to produce clear conclusions, because only honesty and consistency in the approach of all parties can bring lasting sustainability and trust among the countries of the region.
I am convinced that EU enlargement must remain firmly on the Western Balkans agenda, as the open prospects of membership represent a strong driver of reforms, new investments, and economic growth.
On that path, Serbia will always be a reliable and responsible partner of the EU,” Vučić stated on Instagram.
The Brdo–Brioni Process Summit began today in Durrës, where the heads of state participating in the Process will discuss strengthening the European perspective of the entire region, accelerating the EU accession process, enhancing regional stability and good-neighborly relations, as well as the economic and social transformation of the countries of Southeast Europe.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is also attending the summit and will address the participants after the opening remarks by the hosts — Albanian President Bajram Begaj, Croatian President Zoran Milanović, and Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar.
Special attention at the summit will be dedicated to retaining young people by providing better opportunities for life and work, as well as strengthening cooperation in the field of employment, the organizers announced.
It is expected that the Joint Declaration of the Heads of State participating in the Brdo–Brioni Process will be adopted, reaffirming their commitment to supporting European integration and inclusive cooperation with the goal of building a peaceful, strong, stable, prosperous, and united European Union, as well as confirming the continued promotion of good-neighborly relations.
The meeting is also attended by Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović; members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović, Denis Bećirović, and Željko Komšić; President of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova; and the President of the Provisional Institutions in Priština, Vjosa Osmani.
The Brdo–Brioni Process is a regional initiative launched by the presidents of Slovenia and Croatia with the aim of strengthening cooperation and dialogue among the countries of the Western Balkans and supporting their path toward the European Union.
The initiative was founded by former presidents of Slovenia and Croatia, Borut Pahor and Ivo Josipović. Its name comes from the locations of the first meetings — Brdo near Kranj (Slovenia) and Brioni (Croatia). The summit is considered a complement to the Berlin Process and other international initiatives aimed at integrating the Western Balkans into the EU, while also providing a platform for open discussions on disputes and challenges within the region.
Meetings within the Brdo–Brioni Initiative have been held annually since 2013, with the most recent summit taking place last year in Tivat, Montenegro.
