President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, presented today in Moscow to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill the Order of Republic of Serbia of the first degree on a ribbon, for distinguished services in developing and strengthening friendly relations.

Vučić spoke in Russian. He said that Serbia appreciates Patriarch Kirill as a sincere friend who strongly raises his voice for the protection of Serbian holy places and the faithful in Kosovo and Metohija.
"It is a great honor and joy for me to greet you on behalf of the whole of Serbia and to personally express my gratitude for your outstanding contribution to the development of friendly relations between our fraternal Slavic countries and the Orthodox peoples. We value you as a wise and spiritual leader who has authority and who preserves spiritual Christian values and the unity of the Orthodox peoples," said Vučić.
He stated that these values are the basis of relations between Serbia and Russia and a pledge to preserve us as a nation, as Orthodox peoples in the future.
"They pray for you in our Serbian temples in Kosovo, in Belgrade, in the beautiful Church of St. Sava, which shines in all its beauty thanks to the invaluable help of Russia," said Vučić.
Patriarch Kirill: The Order is more than an award, the Serbian and Russian people are linked by history
Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia today thanked President Aleksandar Vučić for the Order of the Republic of Serbia of the first degree on the ribbon that he presented to him today, stating that every award evokes positive emotions, and that when it is received in the context of the relations between two countries, peoples and churches, then it represents more than "just an award".
Patriarch Kirill stated that the Serbian and Russian people are connected by their history, common struggle and one faith.
"We never went to war with each other, we never betrayed each other. It is a unique case, when talking about the entire European context. Even today, both Serbia and Russia, regardless of the fact that they are divided geographically and have no common borders, preserve their spiritual and cultural unity," said Kirill.
Stating that some things can be understood intellectually, Patriarch Kirill stated that when it comes to Serbian-Russian relations, they are understood through the heart.
"The heart speaks of the fact that it is really about fraternal nations, fraternal churches, that this is really the only thing that has been proven throughout history. In that sense, I think this is a unique case. At least, in Russia's relations with other countries," said the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.
He thanked the president, but also the Serbian people for their good attitude towards the Russians, for their love and support.
Before presenting the order, the President of Serbia visited the Danilov Monastery with the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Mr. Kirill.
"It is my honor to visit the Danilov Monastery, the spiritual and administrative center of the Russian Orthodox Church, accompanied by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Mr. Kirill.
The monastery is a living witness and treasure trove of the difficult history of the Russian people. In the most difficult times, this monastery was a refuge for the exiled and hopeless, a light in the darkness and a source of spiritual strength that gave strength to fight against great challenges and temptations.
This magnificent building still inspires admiration today and reminds us to never forget the common spiritual root of the Serbian and Russian people and the message of hope that binds us together forever," wrote Vučić on Instagram.
Later in the day, President Vučić will have a meeting with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym Jomart Tokayev, after which he will attend a formal dinner in the Kremlin, which is organized by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, in honor of the heads of delegations.
