Major operation: Members of a drug cartel from Serbia arrested; Drugs, money, and weapons seized PHOTO
In cooperation with the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime in Belgrade and Europol, police arrested five individuals—members of an organized criminal group—while two others are still being sought.
Those arrested are N.K. (48), M.Lj. (70), Dj.S. (42), D.B. (46), and D.S. (53), the Interior Ministry said.
In an earlier period, in cooperation with investigative authorities in France and Germany, members of the same criminal group were also arrested.
In October 2024, on the territory of the Republic of France, a member of the group, V.G. (50), was arrested while attempting to smuggle 570 kilograms of the narcotic drug hashish.
There are grounds for suspicion that all of the aforementioned individuals, as members of an organized criminal group, committed multiple criminal offenses of unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotic drugs, as well as the offense of criminal association.
As suspected, in the period from October 2024 to August 2025, members of the organized criminal group, acting on the orders and instructions of the organizer M.K., established transport companies in the territories of Bulgaria and Hungary, through which they smuggled at least 157 kilograms of cocaine and more than 1,000 kilograms of hashish.
The narcotics were allegedly transported using cargo vehicles belonging to these companies, from the territories of the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Italy to the Federal Republic of Germany.
Searches of apartments and other premises used by the suspects in Belgrade, Kraljevo, Čačak, Novi Sad, and Prokuplje resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of cannabis oil, two pistols, several rounds of ammunition of various calibers, €88,070 in cash, several luxury passenger vehicles of different brands, and business documentation related to the transport companies.
The operation involved members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Criminal Police Directorate (UKP), the Specialized Unit for Combating Organized Crime (SBPOK), in cooperation with the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime in Belgrade, Europol, investigative authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic, the Kingdom of Spain, as well as police officers from the Gendarmerie, the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit (SAJ), and the police departments of Kraljevo, Čačak, Novi Sad, and Prokuplje.
