Chief of police in Belgrade dismissed; Ministry of Interior (MUP) speaks out

Colonel of police Veselin Milić is no longer the Chief of the Belgrade City Police Department, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced.

It was stated that until a new Chief of the Belgrade City Police Department is appointed, the duties of head of the department will be performed by the deputy chief, Colonel of Police Dejan Bojović.
 

The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade previously announced that, as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances of A.N.’s disappearance on May 12, officers from the Criminal Police Directorate, the Department for Combating Crime, and the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested the Chief of the Belgrade City Police Department.

Milić was ordered to be detained for up to 48 hours on suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of failure to report a criminal offense and offender, as well as assisting the offender after the commission of a criminal act, and within that period he will be brought before the competent public prosecutor for questioning, the Prosecutor’s Office stated.
