Extended detention for suspects in the murder of Danka Ilić: The girl's mother questioned again
The Higher Court in Zaječar extended the detention of suspects D.D. and S.J. for another 30 days in case of the murder of two-year-old Danka Ilić, the court confirmed to Tanjug. The investigation in this case is currently being supplemented as court ordered.
A reconstruction of the events has been carried out, and the prosecution is currently awaiting the analysis of the reconstruction and expert reports. The indictment had been filed but was returned for supplementation of the investigation. After the Appellate Court in Niš twice sent back the decision on confirming the indictment to the Higher Court in Zaječar, the second time it ordered that a completely new judicial panel be appointed.
Following that, the Higher Court in Zaječar sent a request to the Appellate Court in Niš to assign another competent court, and the Appellate Court decided that this would be the Higher Court in Negotin.
Among other things, the Appellate Court instructed the first-instance court that, in the process of re-deciding, the investigation should be supplemented, a reconstruction of the events carried out under the same meteorological conditions and time of day, and, according to the defendants and I.I., the girl’s mother, who should be questioned again as a witness.
The indictment charges S. J. and D. D. with the criminal offense of murder in complicity, while R. D. is charged with aiding the perpetrator after the crime and failure to report a criminal offense and its perpetrator.
It is suspected that on March 26 of last year, in Banjsko Polje near Bor, D. D. and S. J. first hit the two-year-old girl with a vehicle belonging to the public utility company “Vodovod,” where they were employed, and then placed her in the vehicle.
They are suspected of disposing of her body at a landfill, from where it was later moved. The girl’s body has still not been found.
R. D. is suspected of helping his son move the girl’s body. D. D.’s biological brother, also named D. D., died on April 7 of last year in the premises of the Police Department in Bor while in custody.
