School in Velika Drenova opened: Works worth 324 million dinars; Vučić: We need to bring in an Investor
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić said that a new major investor should be brought to Trstenik.
Vučić said at the opening of the reconstructed “Dobrica Ćosić” Primary School that a water supply system must be built in Velika Drenova, which would cost three million euros. He stressed that the state would cover the cost because it wants to invest in this area.
He recalled that the highway promised by the authorities had also been built. However, he added that despite progress in the area, salaries remain below the national average and that a new investor needs to be brought in.
“We promised and built the highway, but we have to bring in a major investor. People here are still living with difficulty. When you were able to earn money, and now when salaries haven’t been paid for seven or eight months because you are the owners and not the state, now it’s ‘state, help us.’ We have to find a long-term solution, but it cannot be a bottomless pit. Expect a call soon for talks,” Vučić told the management of Prva Petoletka.
Value: 324 million dinars
The school in Velika Drenova has been completely reconstructed and will receive a modern gymnasium.
The value of the works is 324,183,409.68 dinars. Reconstruction and construction of the gym began on July 31, 2024, and were completed on December 12 last year.
The school currently employs 46 staff members, including 35 teachers, and is attended by 221 pupils.
The school was built in 1834 and is one of the oldest schools in this part of Serbia.
As the Ministry of Public Investments told Tanjug, in addition to the extension of the building through which the school gained a gymnasium with an area of 540 square meters, a comprehensive reconstruction was carried out. This included energy-efficiency upgrades, replacement of exterior windows and doors, a completely new roof with accompanying insulation layers in the attic of the existing building, as well as a fully new ventilated façade on the added gymnasium.
Accessibility measures were implemented through the installation of lifting platforms inside the building, construction of a restroom for people with disabilities, and the provision of access ramps. Fire safety measures were also carried out in line with legal regulations.
The entire heating system was replaced, with the installation of new pellet boilers, along with a complete replacement of electrical installations and the installation of state-of-the-art energy-efficient LED lighting, as well as a full replacement of the water supply and sewage network.
The interior has been completely renewed, in line with contemporary architectural standards.
The interior of the newly built gymnasium was also designed in a special way, using the most modern interior finishes, including wall coverings that also serve as sound absorption, and the hall has been equipped with appropriate sports equipment.
A modern kitchen with a dining area for students was arranged, featuring state-of-the-art professional equipment.
The school fence was replaced, high-quality park furniture installed, exterior lighting set up, and the schoolyard landscaped and greened.
With the reconstruction of the facilities, teachers and pupils have received better working conditions and greater comfort.
