The first factory for flying cars has opened: Here's how much the vehicle will cost
XPENG Aridge has started trial production at its flying car factory in Guangzhou, marking the opening of the world’s first mass production line for flying cars.
The factory’s debut model—a modular “Land Aircraft Carrier” that combines a road vehicle with a detachable aerial module—successfully completed its first trial assembly.
Mass production and initial deliveries are expected to begin in 2026, according to Global Times.
“XPENG Aridge plans to start mass production and delivery of its flying car in 2026,” said Zhang Suehui, brand communications director. “The Guangzhou factory is currently in the trial production phase—we haven’t started full-scale serial production yet because we first need to obtain airworthiness certificates and production permits.”
Zhang explained that the current trial models are mainly used for flight testing and performance verification.
Unlike other brands that focus more on business or institutional clients, XPENG Aridge is targeting individual consumers, she added.
Price of the flying car
The company has not yet held an official pre-sale event. “We are still in the early reservation phase, with a limited number of slots for interested buyers. The final price has not been set, but it will be below 2 million yuan (around 281,000 USD),” Zhang stated.
“An official pre-sale is planned after obtaining the necessary certifications and the start of mass production, in order to achieve full-scale production and deliveries in 2026,” she added.
The XPENG Aridge factory in the Huangpu district began trial production on November 3, when the first model rolled off the assembly line. The company stated that this event marked the completion of the world’s first mass production line for flying cars and the opening of the first factory to use a modern automotive assembly system for large-scale production of flying vehicles.
Who the buyers are
The planned annual capacity is 10,000 units, starting with an initial output of 5,000 units. When the factory reaches full capacity, it will be able to produce one flying module every 30 minutes, according to the company.
As of October, this car model had received around 7,000 orders, XPENG Motors reported. The buyers include both companies and individual consumers, with about 90% of orders coming from China and the rest from abroad, the company confirmed.
As more global companies enter the flying car sector, competition in the industry is intensifying. According to a November 2 report by Fox Business, Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently hinted that Tesla might unveil its own flying car.
