Montenegrin compares prices with Croatian: Dissatisfaction already at the beginning of the season
While the season is just heating up, prices in Croatia have already skyrocketed a long time ago. Citizens are increasingly resentful of large bills from stores, and the frustration is not limited to social networks.

There are more and more people who decide to leave domestic shelves to higher prices and go shopping across the border - most often to Austria, Slovenia or good old Trieste - where, paradoxically, they are often cheaper than at home, writes Dnevno.hr.
However, a similar wave of dissatisfaction is spreading throughout the region - in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro, prices are becoming less and less bearable, and the standard of living does not keep up with inflation. That the Croatian situation has come under scrutiny and beyond its borders is evidenced by a recent question from a Montenegrin on Croatian Reddit - he was interested in how much a specific product cost. Reactions were not absent.
He was interested in how much a Z'bregov chocolate protein shake costs in Croatia.
"Neighbors, how much does this cost at your place?" he asked. "2.89 euros for a 500 ml protein shake. Where are Montenegrin prices going?" reads the original post that he shared with Croats on Reddit.
Croats surprised
One Croat promptly replied: "2.49 euros regular price, 1.99 on sale", to which he received the answer of a Montenegrin: "It's cheaper with you, and your minimum price is higher than ours". To that, one Croat replied: "Finally, some Croatian product is more expensive abroad than in Croatia."
Then a Croat came forward and claimed that there were better options.
"It's expensive here, it's objectively not worth that much. I mean, 50 g of protein is solid after training, but this Z'bregov objectively doesn't taste good or anything. It's more efficient for you to take protein in the form of a chocolate bar if you don't want it in powder form."
"Bought today at Konzum for 1.99, otherwise it's around 2.50-2.60, I'm not sure," wrote another Croatian.
A person from Croatia came forward and has a recipe for a similar drink.
"You add whey protein and organic cocoa to a glass, pour milk, and finally a little honey if you want it to be sweeter. Mix well and there you go; you don't have to buy this anymore."
