"I absolutely expect tougher sanctions on Iran, which I hope will encourage them to abandon their nuclear program," Wright told CNBC.

Among other things, Wright praised US President Donald Trump's decision to provide incentives to the coal industry as important for information centers of artificial intelligence, as well as incentives to steel production and other industrial activities.

"We need an ever-increasing electricity supply because of the 'explosion' of artificial intelligence and the re-industrialization of the US. If we want America to generate more electricity in the next five or ten years, we need to stop closing coal plants," Wright said.

The US Minister of Energy also stated that he does not believe that European countries will return to the supply of energy from Russia when the war in Ukraine ends.
