The state is ready to help citizens who took out bank loans indexed in Swiss francs, President Aleksandar Vucic has said to those protesting over those debts.

He added the intention is to make transfer this to the state as soon as possible.

Vucic added said that it would cost the state about 120 million euros and that citizens should not fool themselves that the Court of Cassation will tell banks they must return money to citizens over the night, nor will the banks, he said, be ready to take over that obligation.

As the president said, the goal is to try to have banks pay 60 or 70 percent, and the state the rest. "To calm banks to help in some way," Vucic added.

Later in the day, the protesters said they were suspending their strike until Friday, while the Supreme Court of Cassation announced it would take a position by April 2 on the disputes between banks and their client whose loans were indexed in Swiss francs.
