Croatia's snap parliamentary election: HDZ takes most seats

Croatia being a democratic country based on European principles and being a privileged E.U member continues to support minority's in its parliament. The Serbs have 3 members to parliament which has been that way since the collapse of YU. Now looking eastly towards Beograd which likes to verbally express its love for all ethnicities.....still to this day refuses to acknowledge Croats as a minority with not one member to parliament. This is a country that wants to join the E.U...... Fat Chance !!!

And the Serbia government helped them get elected.
Every time Vucic spits on Croatia with his newspapers talking about spies and war and Dacic telling us that Milosevic was a misunderstood peacemaker, then more people like HDZ get elected in Croatia.
HDZ then get to spit on Serbia causing the same reaction here with people like Seselj, Dodik etc getting more attention.

10+ recent years of wars, bombs, murders, rapes, ethnic cleansing and you guys cant help yourselves, you just want more?
What is even worse is that most of the commentators here who want this the most don't even live in Serbia so never have to face the consequences.

Why dont you focus on your Cetnik government and let neighbours do their part?

Serbia is so great everything you do the rest should follow, you have Milosevic party in power + SNS ( Radical light hidden) so are you so democratic.

Serbia has mandatory seats for minorities too. They have to get far less votes to secure a seat than Serbian parties do. The problem is, there isn't that many Croats in Serbia to begin with. No one is discriminating against them, there are Bosniak and Albanian parties in Serbia's parliament because they have enough voters to pass the smaller threshold to earn seats. Not sure what you would like Serbia to do in this situation. Serbs in Croatia make up 5% of the population and therefore can make it into Croatia's Sabor. But there were far more Serbs living there before 1995, when they were all ethnically cleansed by Croatian fascists.

I am extremely happy with these results. The opposition party were only Ustasha lite. Since in power, the HDZ have been condemned by global intellectuals, several Jewish groups, their extremism has caught the attention of the international media. They are proud of their insane fascism and don't care who knows it. Which is great for Serbia. Since Croatia wasn't going to get a real moderate gov't. it's better that these guys remain in power. Go HDZ!!!

Hardly genius, there is a very small band of Croats living in Serbia proper, most of them are spies. You just elected a majority of HDZ revived Ustasha who had their own Croatian interior ministry broken into! Croatia is the joke of the EU and the economic statistics support it.

Since in power, the HDZ have been condemned by global intellectuals, several Jewish groups, their extremism has caught the attention of the international media. They are proud of their insane fascism and don't care who knows it. Which is great for Serbia.

For months now, HDZ has been competing with HSP for who's the most right wing movement in the Domovina, with Serbs and common sense being the two greatest victims. I had hoped for a SDP victory after the debacle HDZ (predictably) put Croatia in, but leave it up to Zoki to out right-wing everyone else in desperate attempt at getting the war veteran vote and ruining it for everyone.

Sort of, but let's not attribute too much attention to a country that's widely used as a scapegoat by nearly every party in Croatia for votes, not just HDZ. The biggest help in my opinion came from Zoran Milanovic, the SDP head jester who can't help being an absolute ass whenever he opens his mouth. His attempt at trying to convince the ever-so important diaspora and "war veteran" electorate (whose importance is only considered around election season) that he's a bigger Serb hater/Croatian patriot than anything the neo-Tudjmanistas could present, turned away a lot of would-be SDP voters. Without any real left-wing social democratic party to pick up the votes, my guess is a lot of ballots were cast for "jebem ti majku" and "picka materina", giving the majority once again to the HDZ thanks to a collection of Croat voters who either don't live in Croatia or have had their heads up their asses since 1995.

Are you aware that Croatia has already recieved 15 million tourists in 2016. The Serbs can only dream of having so many tourists in one year. Even Brad Pitt was in Sibenik last week stating how beautiful the Croatia is.In regards to your intellectual nut jobs who no cares about, they like the Serbs should start concentrating on helping their own people and not worry what your neighbour is doing. Serbia is a worthless landlocked country who is so desperate for anyone to show from the U.S and when they do they give them citizenship.

@hogwash - As a Brit who has spent time in the region, I find all this rivalry so pathetic. The world is dangerous enough as it is without Croatia and Serbia playing silly games. Get your act together and stop behaving like children in a playground. I know there is history between the two nations. But remember France and Germany used to behave this way and then realised it was getting them no where. Start accepting you have more in common than you think.

The only thing you have right is that Serbia is a land locked country. But I have spent time in Golubac, Serbia which is by the Danube and one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.

I agree with Cheers on this one. I can't see that anyone here should care who was elected in Croatia.

I don't recall the Serbian people getting together to murder their Prime Minister. I remember a lot of them/us grieving at his loss.

I also remember a lot of poor, angry, racist, people from England voting Brexit while everyone else around you voted to stay. And just before all the pro-Brexit politicians leaving office afterwards.
