Serbia marks anniversary of start of NATO bombing

Never will we forget what NATO did to our country. Serbians lived through terrorism for months on a daily basis. Bombs far more powerful than those exploding in Paris and Brussels destroyed hospitals, schools, passenger trains and civilian infrastructure, killing women, children and innocent civilians. All this to steal territory of a sovereign state, occupy it and support terrorists in a part of Serbia who invited NATO bombs.

This was a continuation of NATO's policy to empower terrorists and the consequences today we can see in Paris, Brussels and many other parts of the world. RIP to all the innocent lives lost.

Let's remember that nobody in NATO at the time thought it was possible for Serbia to last more than two weeks of military aggression. NATO leaders did not even have a solid strategy for anything longer than this because they thought there was no way little Serbia could last.

Serbia lasted not two weeks but eleven weeks! Such is the heart of a lion. The same people that resisted the Ottoman Empire, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Nazis and NATO will certainly rebel again in the future while Serbia's neighbors line up to be heartless vassals.

My pride in being Serbian will always be that my people resist. Yes it may have almost lead to our extinction in the past century but we punch above our weight.

Yes, and 17 years later, the "nationalists" are in power, Tony Blair is one of their advisers, Serbs in Kosovo are getting more local powers than they ever had before, Albanians, like everyone else, are looking for a one-way ticket out of the Balkans, Thaci & Co. are awaiting war crimes indictments, and Seselj is still running his mouth. The truth is that most Serbs - and their government - made a calculation: "We'll endure the NATO bombs, but we'll wipe out all the Albanians from Kosovo, and keep Kosovo, Albanian-free forever." They calculated that after they eliminated Albanians, they could make up to NATO, they could negotiate somehow with NATO.

Well, guess what? Your calculation didn't work. You got both NATO bombs and lost Kosova forever. Now all you're left with is to cry over your own stupidity.

Is not like you make an uninformed decision, or you didn't know, or the decision was sudden. You knew full well what you were doing, you knew full well what your army and police was doing in Kosova, you decided consciously on genocide, and wiping out an entire population. The bombing you got was nothing but a result of your own decisions. And you were warned way too many times to stop but continued with your genocide.

You may be confusing a number of extremists with the entire population, but there is no evidence suggesting Serbs openly rejoiced at the crackdown and no evidence suggesting Serbs expected to expel 90% of Kosovo's population. This may be a story you picked up in the ensuing 17 years and I understand Albanians love to embellish stories on the Internet to make a point they think the rest will believe, but don't sound ridiculous. Serb morale was at an all-time low in 1999, having undergone nearly a decade of war, sanctions, economic depression, and isolation. No one expected the scenario you wrote.

For all of its involvement in the wars of the 1990's, Serbia came out of it better than the others.

2500 dead from the NATO bombings seems like a lot but when you compare it to the 8000 killed in Srebrenica by the Serbs in just one town you will understand why others in the world find it hard to feel sorry for Serbia.

I am sure the people of Serbia will still find a way to make this some sort of rallying cry that they were the only victims and were totally innocent.
It is precisly that mentality and way of thinking that will keep Serbia living in the past and stop it from moving forward.

LOL, absolutely Jugo, Serbia won the war against NATO. The army was pretty good at hiding from the NATO missions and at ethnically cleansing Albanians (who never came back after the war ended, and who did not declare independence a few years later). The anti-Serb ICTY says 100,000 people in Bosnia were killed in total. 66,000 Bosniaks and 24,000 Serbs. This is civilians and soldiers together. Right now, anything that comes to mind will be used in an effort to try and eradicate Republika Sprska. But nothing changes after this ruling. Even the ruling itself says that genocide was committed in Srebrenica only which was the very same thing that was said years ago.

Your list of massacres committed by KLA misses one very important detail. These were killings of civilians were committed by terrorists.
The massacres of non-Serbs were committed by or with the full knowledge and support of the Serbian Government.

Killing civilians is expected of terrorists do and the Serbian government has every right to punish the perpetrators.
BUt that is not what the Serbian Gov did, instead the government started a deliberate policy of killing civilians just like the terrorists.

Serb morale was at an all-time low in 1999, having undergone nearly a decade of war, sanctions, economic depression, and isolation. No one expected the scenario you wrote.

Your list of massacres committed by KLA misses one very important detail. These were killings of civilians were committed by terrorists.
The massacres of non-Serbs were committed by or with the full knowledge and support of the Serbian Government.

Killing civilians is expected of terrorists do and the Serbian government has every right to punish the perpetrators.
BUt that is not what the Serbian Gov did, instead the government started a deliberate policy of killing civilians just like the terrorists.
