Russia is in no position to make anyone's life more difficult, other than her own citizens. Russian economy is a disaster due to Putin sticking his nose where he cannot afford to do so. Russians are suffering a great deal because of the government failures of Russia, how much longer can Russian empty pockets and stomachs keep on going just to cheer on a dictator for the sake of nationalism?

While I have a lot of sympathy for the way Turkmen feel about being bombed by the Russians, under the rules it was wrong to shoot a pilot while he did not pose a risk. He should have been arrested and taken as a prisoner of war using the rules of the Geneva conventions.

I therefore agree that the person doing the shooting should be arrested and put on trial. I am sure that under reasonable mitigation the sentence could be kept to something short.

All Russia is doing is making life more difficult for Ankara. Moscow is imposing another condition before normalization of relations. Russia wants to inflict more and more pain which will lead to removing the two main protagonists, ie. President and PM.

Turkey has regularly violated and tested Greek airspace for years, yet I don't think the Greeks ever shot down a Turkish pilot: they simply chase them off with their fighter jets.

If a country had the right to shoot down any plane which violated its airspace for a few seconds, then Greece would have had the right to shoot down hundreds of Turkish pilots.

So shooting down a russian fighter pilot is a cowardly act that requires arrest. But russians bombing civilians from the sky isn't? Russia still denies it shot down a passenger plane over ukraine, russia cannot afford sanctions, they need to learn that they cannot Play bully to smaller countries

These “sanctions” on Russia are like slapping someone with a feather – non effective, but our opposition all claim to see Moscow falling apart and poverty everywhere. My son has been to Moscow and St Petersburg as well in New York, Detroit, Chicago, through the states of Iowah, Missouri, Oklahoma and he saw poverty on a scale he could not have imagined.
Privately people are willing to say that the state of the US economy is poor regardless what is said in the media because it has not recovered since 2008.
Yellen had to raise the interest rate. If she did not then it would come out in the open that there something was wrong with the economy. In the long run, the US has to raise the interest rate because all that printed money is coming back to the US from overseas not because of strong economic data.
Yellen is now pondering whether to lower the rate because its proving to hamper economic recovery.
