Dear Kent Price. You got nothing. What happens in Kosova is the history of humanity. Borders change, populations move in and out, maps change, those who govern a certain area change. Rinse, repeat. This has always been the case. There is nothing special to it. There is nothing special especially because Serbs and Albanians are involved. We are not the center of the world and we are no different from other areas of the world. So no matter the artificial paradigm you're trying to squeeze by here, it simply doesn't apply. The very fact that there have been so many different people's governing this corner of the world is a testimony to that. No matter what arbitrary invented "principle" you do your best to apply, it doesn't hold any water. You can't freeze time and you can freeze history. That means you can't stop the fluidity of political powers and their shift through time because you pulled some "principle" from your behind and decided to call that "justice". That is not how history and humanity works. They don't care about nuisances such as "justice", or DNA, or who was first and who came last, who built a church or who built a highway. The only thing that remains constant through all of this, is that powers shifts and so do those who administer an area. Yesterday it was the Serbs, last week the Ottomans, two weeks ago the Romans, today the Albanians. Who knows about tomorrow. The important thing is to figure out how to stop killing each other when tomorrow happens?

No, what you were trying to say is that Serbs moved to the Balkans in the 5th century and replaced the local population.

Serbs, by name, did not even call themselves Serbs then.

In truth it were just a bunch of Slavic speaking tribes who migrated to the Balkans over the centuries and co-existed with the local population, not breeding them out.

The locals (Thraci, Dardani, Illiry, whatever tribe living there) assimilated to the Slavic language and culture and start calling themselves Slavs.

That's why modern Serbs overwhelmingly contain I2a1b1 instead of R1a, meaning their ancestors where living in the Balkans for millennia instead only for the last couple 100s of years.

I know that there was several Slavic migrations and not one. I was referring to the largest of the Slavic migrations where Slavs first moved to the Balkans. Prior to the Great Slavic migrations, there were no Slavs in the Balkans. This is why the Ancient Greeks, Romans or Byzantium make no mention of them in their literature, history or documentation.

I don't dispute that south Slavic DNA countains I2a1b, this is because it spread to Europe when you said it did, this includes what is present day Ukraine and Russia. Then the southern Slavs also mixed with the locals in the Balkans at the time.

No historian in the world claims that South Slavs were in the Balkans prior to the 5th century.

@ Dear Mr. Haitian village idi*t

Obviously you will need to do some more research before spitting this kind of nonsense and looking like a fool yourself.

There was not only one Slavic migration, but several.

DNA research shows the south Slavs (Slovenes, Croats, Bosniaks, Serbs, Montenegrins and Macedonians) overwhelmingly contain I2a1b and to a lesser degree E1b1b and R1a, where I2a1b was spread in Europe around 4800-1500 BCE, and the latter 2 during the late Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages.
The Northern Slavs (Russians, Polaks, Slovaks, Baltics, etc) contain mostly R1a, so if the Serbs migrated to the Balkans only around the 5th century they would mostly only contain R1a too right?

Right.

Dear J.

The Serbs predate the Romans and the Turks, meaning the Serbs were there before the Romans and the Turks.
The Romans and The turks were an occupying force they were not from that area of kosovo to begin with.
(kent prince, 1 November 2015 10:30)

Dear kent prince.

The Romans first appeared in the Balkans in the 2nd Century BC and had fully annexed it to the Roman Republic by the 1st Century BC. The Great Slavic migration to the Balkans occurred in the 5th Century AD which is 500 years after the Romans were first in the Balkans. You are most wrong to claim that "Serbs were there before the Romans". No historian in the world would dispute this. When Romans were first in the Balkans, Serbs (and other Southern Slavs) were still Slavic tribes living in what is present day Ukraine and Russia. Serbs "were not from that area of kosovo to begin with" either.

So if colonization is OK for you, then it doesn't matter who colonizes what.

Also the Romans were in Kosova for 2 thousand years. The Turks for 500 years. If Serbs took it from these more advanced civilizations and "developed" it, then others can take it from Serbia and develop it. So what's your problem?

If you believe Russia is the rightful owner of Crimea, and it was the Russian (or USSR) government that gave Crimea to Ukraine, how do you justify the term "illegally"? Was their restrictions on the gift, was the government at the time not the law of the land?

Good question, it can only answered by the old proverb: 'If two people do the same, it's still not the same'. Though, it's not exactly the same thing: The same would have been when Albania would have taken away Kosovo and declared it a part of Albania instead of an UN protectorate self-proclaimed it's independence.

Sputnik noted in its report that the people of Crimea in March 2014 decided to right a historical mistake, dating back to the USSR era, by voting overwhelmingly (95 percent) in favor of "bringing the peninsula back home." Thus the same month, Crimea officially became a part of the Russian Federation.

Radio Pristina reported the "Kosovo Albanians decided to correct the historical mistake dated back a century and officially became an independent state".

And why shouldn't people that enter another country illegally shouldn't be put on a list of criminals? I think it's like that in most countries. Serbian politicians should know it, I think some of them got arrested when they illegally entered to Kosovo instead of using the regular crossings.

Потрошенко (from the word "потрошить", like "Jack, the ripper") was never a criminal.
He is just part of (anti-Russian) UA-oligarh mob. Wait... I have the impression that Ukrainian (and Serbian and Bulgarian and Russian ) oligarhs are criminals and there is not enough rope in these countries to hang them.

Ah, yes, Hungary is not much different... but all of them are nothing compared with American economic criminals.

Help me if I am wrong.

In the case of Crimea. Crimea was "given illegally" to the Ukraines not colonized by the Ukraines.

(kent prince, 31 October 2015 00:00)
If you believe Russia is the rightful owner of Crimea, and it was the Russian (or USSR) government that gave Crimea to Ukraine, how do you justify the term "illegally"? Was their restrictions on the gift, was the government at the time not the law of the land?
