"The US is opposed to the referendum and is looking into an appropriate response"....just amazing. If you wonder who is in control of Bosnia, that's it right there. Look, maybe people in Bosnia agree or disagree with this referendum. It's their issue, their problem. For the US to even meddle, let alone dictate what should be done in Bosnia is ridiculous. How many countries got involved in the US dispute over the confederate flag? Or court decisions? Can you imagine outside countries telling the US they are opposed to their decisions on internal matters and are looking into appropriate responses? The outcry would be loud and out of control.

This US meddling only brings instability, not stability. It has been 20 years on since the end of the war in Bosnia and things are not moving forward. The Balkan borders need to be redrawn and set because really, it's just not working as it currently sits. Nobody is going to be 100% happy with that either, but it puts an end game to the situation. Otherwise, you will have the US sitting in your country dictating your internal matters forever. That's exactly what the US wants and why they are against redrawing borders. Personally, redraw them, end the conflict, and have visa free travel through the region. Immediately after redraw, all sides honor each other's victims, and set a strict goal of having good relations asap.

A brilliant move by Dodik to take attention and possibly investigation away from the corruption practiced by his government and cronies.
